Hit the high notes this summer with Wheaton Park District's concert series

Musical fan favorites make a comeback this summer when the Memorial Park band shell in downtown Wheaton hosts its Summer Entertainment Series, a seasonal celebration of live music and community fun.

In addition to familiar entertainers, the band shell will host performances by several artists making their downtown Wheaton debut. Many of the artists on the concert schedule are Chicago area mainstays beloved by loyal fans.

Highlights of the concerts scheduled through September:

• Friday, July 14: Radio Gaga with Maggie Speaks

• Saturday, July 15: Jay Allen, a talent from NBC's "The Voice!" in concert to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. The show opens with a performance by Vital Signs.

• Monday, July 24: Free Family Night with the StingRays

• Friday, Aug. 11: Gold Dust Dreams with Simple Men and Southern Nights

• Saturday, Aug. 12: Trippin Billies with Without U2

• Friday, Sept. 8: The Chicago Experience with Billy Elton

• Saturday, Sept. 9: The DuPage Symphony Orchestra

Memorial Park at 225 Karlskoga Ave. opens at 5 p.m. and the music begins at 6 p.m.

Most shows are ticketed events. Tickets are $10 per person and are available at MemorialParkWheaton.com.

Tickets for the Jay Allen Alzheimer's Association benefit concert on Saturday, July 15, are $40.

Several free events are planned, including three free family nights in Memorial Park on July 24 and Sept. 9, plus performances by the Wheaton Municipal Band on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 3.
