Attend Schaumburg's Free Environmental Fair on May 11

The Village of Schaumburg invites the public to attend the 2019 Environmental Fair that will be held on Saturday, May 11.

The event will take place from noon until 3 p.m. at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg. The event is free and open to all ages.

Participants will learn how to join the community in protecting the environment. Tables with information will be available in the lobby and participants can attend a variety of workshops throughout the day.

The event will include a presentation about conserving Monarch butterflies. Participants will receive a free rearing kit and learn how to raise monarchs in disposable containers. You can also create a butterfly magnet and learn how to raise monarchs in the backyard.

Community environmental organizations scheduled to participate include: University of Illinois Master Gardeners, Schaumburg Bicycle Club, Spring Valley Nature Sanctuary & Heritage Farm, Hoffman Estates Garden Club, Schaumburg Community Garden Club, VOS Environmental Committee, Sierra Club, Schaumburg Township District Library, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, Illinois Native Plant Society - Northeast Chapter, Schaumburg Township Disability Services, and Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
