Schaumburg Library announces summer 2023 Town Square concerts and events series

Schaumburg Township District Library is excited to announce its lineup of concerts and events that will take place in Town Square throughout the summer.

Join Schaumburg Library for some summer fun in Town Square with lots of music, plus magic, science experiments, yoga and more. Bring your snacks and picnic baskets, but no pets, please.

• Sunset Yoga: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1. Enjoy an evening of yoga in Town Square led by our certified yoga instructor, Marti Lahood. Rain location: Central Library

• Brass From the Past: 6:45-8:15 p.m. Monday, June 5. Brass from the Past is one of Chicago's best cover bands. Featuring Chicagoland's top-tier touring and studio musicians, the band offers an unstoppable six-piece horn section, tight four-piece rhythm section, and three powerful singers who command the stage. Rain date: June 6.

• Pocket Circus: 7-7:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 7. Get ready for an energetic show with a blend of humor, magic, acrobatics, juggling and music. Rain location: Central Library

• Mellencougar: 6:35-8:15 p.m. Monday, June 12. Enjoy an evening of heartland rock with this tribute to John Mellencamp. Hits like "R.O.C.K. in the USA," "Pink Houses," "Cherry Bomb," "Lonely Ol' Night" and "Hurts So Good" will get you on your feet. Rain date: June 13.

• ScribbleMonster: 7-7:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 14. ScribbleMonster creates, teaches and performs music, comedy and theater right before your eyes. Rain location: Central Library.

• Teen Record Label Live Music Showcase: 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 15. A listening and release party for the music from the library's Teen Record Label Project. Rain location: Central Library.

• Voyage: 6:45-8:15 p.m. Monday, June 19. Their '70s and '80s Classic Arena Rock Show features blazing guitar solos, seamless transitions, and huge endings that make you feel like it was back in the day. They cover a wide range of material from artists such as Bon Jovi, Journey, Van Halen, UFO, and REO to name a few. Rain date: June 20.

• Laura Doherty: 7-7:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 21. Acoustically rock your kid's world with breezy folk-pop tunes. This upbeat, interactive concert features adorable puppet friends and will have kids dancing and clapping along to Laura's original catchy tunes! Rain location: Central Library.

• Pilates in the Park: 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 24. Join instructors from Club Pilates Schaumburg for a free class to get your morning moving! Please bring your own yoga mat. Rain location: Central Library.

• Shout Section Big Band: 6:45-8:15 p.m. Monday, June 26. Beloved by jazz fans and swing dancers, Shout Section performs classic big band jazz from the 1930s and '40s, and adapts modern hits to the big band style. Rain date: June 27.

• Jim Gill: 7-7:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 28. Join Jim Gill as he bangs out energetic rhythms on his banjo while everyone claps, jumps, dances and even sneezes along. The concert is filled, of course, with songs and stories from Jim's award-winning recordings and books for young children. Rain location: Central Library.

• Generation: 6:45-8:15 p.m. Monday, July 3. Generation brings it all to the stage! It's a "rock show" of iconic, popular hits not defined by decade, but some of the best groundbreaking music of our time. Beatles to Stones, Bowie to Led Zeppelin, Aretha to Sly Stone. Songs are always sure to bring smiling faces in the crowd. The band is powerful, the songs are unforgettable ... a performance that makes the audience part of the excitement and fun, happening on stage. Rain date: July 5.

• Sunset Yoga: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 6. Enjoy an evening of yoga in Town Square led by our certified yoga instructor, Marti Lahood. Rain location: Central Library.

• Mackenzie O'Brien Band: 6:45-8:15 p.m. Monday, July 10. The band covers songs from today's country stars such as Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton, Maren Morris, to stars of the past like Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings or even the Eagles! Rain date: July 11.

• Being Bilingual Rocks - Alina Celeste & Mi Amigo Hamlet: 7-7:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 12. This interactive experience created by Parents' Choice Award-winners Alina Celeste and Mi Amigo Hamlet uses songs from Latin America to take families on a musical journey. Everyone will sing and dance while learning Spanish and English. Rain location: Central Library.

• Arranmore: 6:45-8:15 p.m. Monday, July 17. Influenced by both American folk and Celtic music, Arranmore creates a unique, beautiful sound all their own. Their live performances are bursting with energy, drawing audiences into their amazing music. Rain date: July 18.

• Barefoot Hawaiian: 7-7:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 19. Experience the Islands as these entertainers whisk you away to Hawaii, Tahiti and New Zealand. Enjoy the soft Hawaiian Hula, the Poi Ball Dance from the Maoris and the mesmerizing drum beats and dances of Tahiti. Rain location: Central Library.

• Rhythm Rockets: 6:45-8:15 p.m. Monday, July 24. Vintage jazz and rhythm and blues, with songs influenced by the sax-driven bands of the late 1940s and early 1950s. Rain date: July 25.

• Chemical Reactions: 7-7:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 26. Have fun with science as Scott Douglas from Discover Science does chemistry experiments with help from the audience. Rain location: Central Library.

• Pilates in the Park: 10-11 a.m. Saturday, July 29. Join instructors from Club Pilates Schaumburg for a free class to get your morning moving! Please bring your own yoga mat. Rain location: Central Library.

• Student Body: 6:45-8:15 p.m. Monday, July 31. A fun and entertaining play on all the cliques that ruled your school, the Student Body plays all your favorite high energy hits that will leave you reminiscing. Rain date: Aug. 1.

• Sunset Yoga: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3. Enjoy an evening of yoga in Town Square led by our certified yoga instructor, Marti Lahood. Rain location: Central Library.

• Radius: 6:45-8:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7. Radius prides itself on creative and high-level performances of a cappella arrangements of songs that you've heard and loved on the radio, from oldies to jazz standards to pop ballads to R&B up-tempo. Rain date: Aug. 8.

• Pilates in the Park: 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26. Join instructors from Club Pilates Schaumburg for a free class to get your morning moving! Please bring your own yoga mat. Rain location: Central Library.
