Zion man facing 1st-degree murder charges in connection with Ingleside shooting death

A Zion man has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder in connection with a fatal shooting July 24 in Ingleside.

Kendrick Williams, 33, was in custody and due in court Wednesday on charges in the death of Joshua Strong, 30, of Ingleside, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies, dispatched about 3:10 a.m. to a disturbance on the 25900 block of West Laneville Drive, Ingleside, learned someone inside the home had been shot and the person believed to have fired the weapon was still armed.

Several people including children were safely removed from the home and the body of a man later identified as Strong was found inside, according to the sheriff’s office.

Charges were not immediately filed as detectives investigated the circumstances of the disturbance and shooting, according to the sheriff’s office.

An arrest warrant for Williams was drafted and signed by a judge Sept. 9. He was arrested Tuesday in front of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, authorities said.

He is being held pending a detention hearing Thursday at which a judge will determine whether Williams should be held pending trial.
