The pilot of a small plane was killed when a single-engine aircraft clipped the roof of a townhouse near Deerfield late Wednesday and crashed into the ground. The plane rests on the north side of a row of townhomes along the 800 block of Swallow Street.

Kinkel a Hersey High School grad, a singer and member of various bands, suffered a brain trauma about 5 years ago that reduced his ability to speak, much less sing. He's fighting to regain that ability, and has produced a feature-length documentary about his story.
