North Suburban YMCA Wins 10 North Shore Choice Awards
For the fourth year in a row, the North Suburban YMCA was honored by community voters in the 2020 North Shore Choice Awards, presented by 22nd Century Media. The Y received 10 first place awards including: Best Camp, Sports Camp, Art Studio, Kids Birthday Party Venue, Bar and Bat Mitzvah Venue, Dance Studio, Fitness Center/ Gym, Personal Trainer, Swim School, and Yoga Classes.
"We're very grateful to everyone who voted and showed their support for the Y's amazing programs, facilities, and staff. It's quite an honor to once again receive 10 awards," commented Howard Schultz, President/CEO of the NSYMCA. This brings the NSYMCA's total North Shore Choice Awards over the last four years to 40.
Winners were selected by voters online and mailed in by readers of the five North Shore 22nd Century newspapers that were a mainstay of local community news for 10 years until the current coronavirus crisis and economic fallout forced the closure of the papers.
"The North Suburban YMCA laments the untimely passing of 22nd Century Media, and expresses its deepest appreciation to all of those in the organization who worked so hard to provide a significant outlet for local news and activity, and had succeeded." Schultz added, "We will greatly miss this weekly paper in the mailbox."
The NSYMCA's Northbrook facility is well known in the community for the breadth and quality of its programs, as well as its welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. Located at 2705 Techny Road in Northbrook, the NSYMCA serves 15 local municipalities with a full spectrum of classes, camps, and events for all ages.
Recently, in an effort to continue to serve the community, the North Suburban YMCA has begun offering a wide selection of virtual classes to its members and friends, allowing them to participate in their favorite classes with their favorite instructors.
