Dundee Twp. Lions to host beanbag charity tournament
The Dundee Township Lions Club invites the community to join in the annual charity beanbag tournament at Diamond Jim's in East Dundee. The tournament will be Saturday, Aug. 23, with registration starting at noon and games starting at 1 p.m.
Registration fees are $30 per team.
Nick Theis, the event chairman, excitedly noted it will be a great setting outdoors for a fun activity. Even in the event of rain, there is plenty of room inside.
Advance registration is easy by signing up at Diamond Jim's, 325 Meier St., or going on the Lions website, www.dundeelions.org. You can also get further information by calling Lions president Jim McClung at (847) 567-7127.
Top prizes for the tournament are $250 for the winning team and $150 for second place. Adding to the fun and excitement will be numerous raffle prizes donated by local merchants. People should come even if they don't play as they can cheer their favorite team and get in on the raffles.
Although this is a fundraiser, they hope with all the prizes and party atmosphere at Diamond Jim's a good time will be had by all. McClung emphasized with all events the Lions try to put the fun in "fun-draisers." The great winners at the tournament, according to Theis, though, will be the community charities the Lions support as again all profits will go to charity.
