Project ACES Comes to Stanton School

Project Aces Comes to Stanton School

If you felt the ground shake slightly on May 6, there was no need to be concerned; it was just the Stanton School staff and student body joining millions of children all over the world exercising simultaneously. With childhood obesity on the rise and young children showing risk factors for heart disease, it's time to start fighting back.

Mrs. Husko, one of Stanton's Physical Education teachers, organized Project Aces (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) as a fun way to get students excited about exercising. According to Mrs. Husko, "The students were excited and motivated to exercise because they knew kids from all 50 states and over 50 countries were joining in on the fun. They walked, ran, played catch and even danced their way to a healthier life style. By participating in Project ACES, I'm hopeful that positive lifelong fitness habits will be developed."

Project ACES is celebrating its 28th year and has received praise from Governors, Senators, and celebrities from sports and show business. Mrs. Husko, along with the students and staff at Stanton School in Fox Lake, plan to continue this event annually.
