Glendale Heights Fest to cap off five days of fun with big fireworks show July 17
After a two-year hiatus, Glendale Heights Fest returns with five days of fun with live bands, games, rides, food and more on July 13-17.
Take your pick of bands from various genres and fun activities for the kids, including the popular fireworks display on Sunday.
After the opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Gen-FuZe will take the stage at 6:30 p.m., followed by Hi-Infidelity at 8:30 p.m.
On Thursday, the Glendale Heights band Los Corb will open the fest with "rock en espaƱol" at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Semple band, fronted by Keith Semple, at 8:30 p.m.
It will be a country music themed night on Friday, starting with "Line Dancing with Estelle" at 5:45 and 8 p.m.
Smokin' Gunz, the country band from Schaumburg, will hit the stage at 6:15 p.m. Friday, followed by the five-piece country rock party band Cowboy Jukebox at 8:30 p.m.
On Saturday, the St. Charles cover band Chasing Alice will play music from the 1980s, '90s to today from 5:45 to 8 p.m., followed by ARRA's classic rock from 8:30 to 11 p.m.
Dina & Mike, featuring Dina Bach on keyboard/vocals and Mike Charbonneau on electronic drums/percussion, will open music stage on the last day of the festival at 2:45 p.m. Sunday. Voyage will perform the best of classic arena rock from the 1970s and '80s at 4:30 p.m.
Before the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m., The Spazmatics will bring its popular 1980s-style show to the music stage at 7:15 p.m.
The festival will only have fireworks on the closing night. Due to supply issues with numerous firework companies, rising costs, and input from residents, it was decided to do one huge show on closing night versus two smaller shows.
Starting at 7 p.m. until approximately 11 p.m., Camera Park and Americana Park parking lots will be closed for the viewing of the fireworks display, as well as Fullerton Avenue from Bloomingdale Road to President Street, and President Street from Armitage Avenue to Fullerton Avenue. As a courtesy to others during the fireworks, they are asking drivers to turn off their car alarm, if equipped.
The carnival, operated by North American Midway Entertainment, will be open 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday to Friday; 2 to 9 p.m. Saturday; and 2 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Want unlimited rides? Get a wristband good for one day, or get a Mega Pass to ride all five days.
