Writer's contentions wrong in letter

The Daily Herald printed a letter to the editor on Oct. 19 from Robert Allare.

Included was this statement, which is factually false: "At a recent board meeting, the fact that David and Linda Moore are living on District 158 property and not paying the contractually agreed-upon $5,000 per year in rent was discussed."

Why is this false? District 158's agreement is not with either David Moore or Linda Moore. There was no reference to either being financially responsible or being a part of the agreement at the meeting.

Another false statement: "Snow was quick to point out that the Moores aren't paying rent because the former superintendent told them they didn't have to."

Why is this false? Because I did not say this. I know the Moores are not a party to the agreement with District 158. I believe if you go back to the DVD, you will find no one mentioned Linda Moore's name, David Moore's name or any "Moore." I also know the word "rent" is not in the agreement.

Editor's Note: While David and Linda Moore do live on District 158 property, the contract and the financial obligation belong to Linda Moore's parents.
