Corgi, retriever breed specialties coming soon
Lakeshore Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club's Breed Specialty will be held Oct. 26 and 27 in the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn, 800 S. Route 31. Obedience and Rally is included on the 26th.
• The Golden Retriever Club of Illinois will hold Breed Specialties Oct. 27 and 28 in the Sports Zone, 1945 Cornell Ave., Melrose Park. Tracking Tests: Glenbard All Breed Obedience Club's Tracking Tests and Tracking Tests Excellent will be held the morning of Oct. 28 at Hawk Hollow/Mallard Lake Forest Preserve on Lawrence Avenue in Hanover Park.
• Medallion Rottweiler Club will have Variable Surface Tracking Tests Oct. 28 at DuPage County Government Center, 421 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton.
New classes: Paws R Us K9s will have a 7 p.m. pre-beginner (Puppy) and 8 p.m. beginner (on leash) class Oct. 30. Upon graduation from these classes, dogs should be able to pass the AKC Canine Good Citizen test. If you miss these, prebeginner classes they will start again Nov. 30.
The club also has regular Rally classes Wednesday nights, which welcome drop-ins. At 7 p.m. there is the novice and off-leash beginner classes and Advanced Rally at 8 p.m. Excellent Rally is available at 9 p.m. providing you call Penny at (847) 882-5342 ahead of time.

New sessions:ŒLyons Township Dog Training Club's last night of current classes is Oct. 23, which includes novice run throughs and therapy dog testing. • Northwest Obedience Club will have new training sessions starting the week of Nov. 5, which are limited to six weeks due to no classes the week of Thanksgiving. Correctional Clinic:ŒThe German Shepherd Dog Training Club's Correctional Clinic mentioned in last week's column will be the last one for 2007. They will begin again the fourth Friday in January.
