Briefs: Huntley to host health fair

The Huntley Park District will host its first Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature health products, prevention services and information on health-related issues. If you attend, you'll have a chance to enter a raffle to win prizes ranging from an iPod Shuffle to a three-month membership to the park district's Fitness Center. The health fair will be held at the park district's Rec Center at 12015 Mill St.

Algonquin cafe fined

Main Street Billiards Cafe in Algonquin was fined $1,000 plus legal fees Tuesday night for serving underage patrons earlier this year. Owner Richard Geschrey and the Algonquin Liquor Commission agreed to the fine plus added training for those who serve alcohol. This was the first offense for the restaurant.

Legal help for seniors

Low income seniors, age 60 and older, can call the Prairie State Legal Services office at (815) 206-5828 to schedule an appointment at the Algonquin Township building, 3702 Northwest Hwy. Appointments are held mornings each Wednesday. The position of Senior Services attorney Geri Dolan is funded through the 2005 McHenry County Senior Service Grant Fund.
