Learn to organize business books

Introduction to QuickBooks will be the program at 7 p.m. today at Roselle Public Library, 40 S. Park St., Roselle.

Vivienne Porter of C3 Solutions will demonstrate how to set up your company books on the computer and how to use the software for essential business accounting.

Tour holy places through slide show

A slide presentation through 25 countries will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bloomingdale Public Library, 101 Fairfield Way, Bloomingdale.

Bill Helmuth will share his adventures and explore the architectural treasures, shrines, religious rites and festivals that represent the heritages of Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism and Ba'Hai.

Boxes on display at parks museum

"Thinking Outside the Box," an art exhibit consisting of shelves and canvasses displaying objects created to fit into a 7-inch-by-7-inch box, is open in Gallery II through Oct. 20 at Bloomingdale Park District Museum, 108 S. Bloomingdale Road, Bloomingdale.

Twelve artists each created 22 unique objects for 12 unique boxes.

The cost is $1 for Bloomingdale Park District residents, 50 cents for seniors and $2 for others. Gallery hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Volunteers needed to help clean park

Volunteers are being sought for Bloomingdale Park District's next Volunteer Day from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 20 at Springfield Park, 269 Springfield Drive, Bloomingdale.

Volunteers will help with invasive plant removal, harvesting seeds from native plants, painting ceramic tiles for a mural, cleaning up the park and preparing planting pots for a local nursing home.

Helpers wanted for Scare Walk

Wood Dale Park District is looking for groups willing to develop, organize and facilitate a haunted scene for a one-night outdoor Scare Walk from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Oct. 27 at Cabin Nature Center, 111 S. Wood Dale Road, Wood Dale.

Volunteers must attend a mandatory meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Wood Dale Park District Recreation Complex, 111 E. Foster Ave., Wood Dale.

Hemingway book is topic for group

"A Farewell to Arms" will be the book for the monthly evening book discussion group at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at Itasca Community Library, 500 W. Irving Park Road, Itasca.

The book is available at the library's circulation desk. The group usually meets the fourth Wednesday of every month, but the meeting day is one day earlier in October to avoid Halloween.
