Elgin Kennel Club to hold all-breed shows, trials

Elgin Kennel Club's all-breed conformation shows plus obedience and rally trials will be held Aug. 25 and 26 at Kane County Fairgrounds Soccer Fields in St. Charles. Call Ed or Peggy at (630) 897-6277 if you have any questions.

•The German Shepherd Dog Training Club of Chicago will hold its 67th annual obedience trial and second rally trial on Aug. 26 on the club grounds at 4925 County Farm Road, Hanover Park. Anyone with questions, call Arlene at (630) 852-6129 or the club at (630) 6226 and leave a message.

Candlelight Vigil: Save-A-Pet will have a Candlelight Vigil in memory of homeless animals Saturday between 9 p.m. and midnight at the shelter, 31664 N. Fairfield Road, Grayslake. Garage sale: Rand Park Dog Training Club's Building Fund will benefit from the Garage Sale to be held Aug. 25 and 26 at 8430 Major Ave., Morton Grove. Sales will help bring the club's own building closer to reality. Call Lois at (847) 966-7908 if you have items to donate and/or information about the sale or general questions about the club.

Correction Clinic: Car-Dun-Al Obedience Dog Training Club's next correction clinic will be held Aug. 28 at 10643 Wolf Drive, Huntley. Pre-entry fee is $6, plus $4 for an additional entry of the same dog. Send entry with check payable to the club to Barb Lepke, P.O. Box 507, Wayne, IL 60104. Gate fee is $7 plus $5. Bakeless Bake Sale: Will County Humane Society is having a Bakeless Bake Sale to raise funds to care for the shelter's homeless animals. To participate, send a donation to 24109 W. Seil Road, Shorewood, IL 60404 in the amount it would cost you in time and money to prepare and send your choice. What this amounts to is no fuss, but your efforts will be greatly appreciated!

People notes: Vera Kollar of Antioch has been approved by the American Kennel Club on a provisional basis to judge boxers and junior showmanship.

•Jean Austin of Batavia has been approved on a provisional basis to judge Brittanys; German wirehaired pointers; Chesapeake Bay, curly coated, flat coated, Labrador and Nova Scotia duck tolling retrievers; clumber spaniels; and Spinoni Italiani breeds.

•Ken Murray of Island Lake has also been approved on a provisional basis to judge Brittanys; German wirehaired pointers; curly coated, flat coated and Nova Scotia duck tolling retrievers; clumber and Welsh springer spaniels; Spinoni Italiani; and vizslas.

•Eleanor Jackson of Woodstock has completed her provisional assignments and is now a regular American Kennel Club approved judge.
