Briefs: Roadwork slows Route 31
A patching and resurfacing project will close some lanes on Route 31 in Elgin beginning today and ending Nov. 16. Officials will reduce Route 31 to one lane in each direction between Big Timber Road and I-90 to the bridge over Tyler Creek. There also will be daily lane closures on Route 31 from North of I-90 to south of Route 20 for patching and resurfacing and curb and gutter work. Expect congestion and take other routes if possible.

Algonquin seeks park input:
The village of Algonquin seeks resident input on the village's Parks, Trails, and Open Space Plan. Comments may be submitted in writing at Village Hall, 2200 Harnish Drive, through Aug. 24. There will be an open house from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Village Hall, where residents can meet directly with village staff to discuss the plan. The goal of the plan is to ensure residents have a well-connected and well-balanced system of parks, trails, and open spaces, resulting in a high quality of life for all residents. Visit www.algonquin.org to view an executive summary of the plan and the Parks, Trails, and Open Space Map, which identifies the precise locations of all current and future parks, trails, and open spaces in the village.
