Briefs: Huntley to expand bleachers

Huntley High School is looking to expand seating at its varsity football field. The Huntley Unit District 158 operations staff has recommended the district expand the bleachers because the high school has the least seating in the Fox Valley Conference. The high school is the only school in the conference with fewer than 1,000 seats in its home bleachers, according to District 158. Expanding the bleachers could cost close to $600,000. The district hopes to complete the work by the start of the 2009 football season.

Village warns of siren test

Carpentersville officials remind residents that the village's emergency management warning sirens are tested today and on the first Tuesday of each month. During the testing, the siren will sound for about one to two minutes, compared to an actual emergency when the siren sounds until the danger has passed. For questions or concerns, contact Fire Chief John Schuldt at (847) 426-2131.
