Boys and Girls Club lends hand to Larkin Center:

Members of the Boys and Girls Club of Elgin's Torch Club at Ellis Middle School will be donating towels and washcloth gift baskets to residents of the Larkin Center. Torch Club members will deliver these gift baskets to the Larkin Center today. The money used to purchase these gifts was raised at a recent skate night. After reviewing the Larkin Center's wish list, and learning more about who they serve, members decided to use the money to purchase items for gift baskets.

Judson student wins second in design competition:

Judson University's Jason Roberts last month won second place in the Metal Construction Association Student Design Competition for his design of a maritime museum. Roberts' entry was one of 142 other designs supplied by architecture students from around the country and the world. David Ogoli, associate professor of architecture for Judson's School of Art, Design and Architecture, served as Roberts' sponsor. Judges believed Roberts' design would be the most buildable while maintaining a high aesthetic appeal. Roberts will receive $1,500 for second place and earned another $1,000 for the school.
