Luminaria on hold
For the first time in 17 years, the Patriot Meadows annual Luminaria Lighting in Cary has been postponed because of bitter cold and gusty winds. It will be rescheduled to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28. Neighbors in 30 houses on Claire Lane and Spruce Tree Drive will line their curbs and driveways with more than 1,200 luminaria. The tradition begain in 1992 when the subdivision was completed.
Petitions available for Huntley
Nominating petitions are available for Huntley residents who are interested in running for a seat on the Huntley village board. Mayor Chuck Sass is up for re-election in the spring along with three trustees: Pam Fender, Paul Mercer and John Piwko. You can pick up petitions in the village clerk's office at village hall, 10987 Main St. Petitions can be circulated immediately. You must file your petitions between 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 and 5 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26 at village hall. Call (847) 515-5200.
District 300 launches tip line
Community Unit District 300 now has a safety tip line that allows students, staff, parents and local residents to anonymously report safety issues at District 300 schools. The line can be reached 24 hours a day by calling (847) 551-8477 (TIPS). Messages can be left in English or Spanish. The tip line should only be used to report situations that do not pose an immediate threat to the safety of District 300 students or staff. District 300's safety officer, Gary Chester, will be notified when a message is left on the tip line.

Nominating packets for those interested in running for village office in Algonquin for the April election is now available at the administrative offices inside village hall, 2200 Harnish Drive.
