Briefs: Church hosts annual brunch
The First Congregational Church in Huntley is holding its annual Bells' Brunch from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23. The yearly event is a fundraiser for the church's four handbell choirs. Tickets cost $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 and younger. Tickets can be purchased at the church office or at the door. The church is at Main and Church streets in downtown Huntley. Blood drive in Lake in the Hills
The Lake in the Hills Rotary Club will be holding a blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. today at village hall, 600 Harvest Gate. At the same time, County Line Chiropractic will be there all day accepting food donations that will be forwarded to the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Food Pantry. Smooth operator
The Illinois Potable Water Supply Operations Association and the Illinois EPA has named Jason Schutz, Algonquin's chief water operator, groundwater operator of the year. He has worked in the village for 11 years and was rated on his daily operation of the facilities that distribute surface and groundwater to locals. He oversees the town's three water treatment plants and nine wells.
Christmas preview delayed
The preview of the Christmas display at the McHenry County Historical Society originally scheduled for Monday, November 24 has been canceled. It will be rescheduled.
