Dress up your dog for Woof-O-Ween contest
Woof-O-Ween, Cody & Carl's Blvd. third annual Costume Contest, will be Saturday, Oct. 25, from noon until 3 p.m. at 756 W. Northwest Hwy., Barrington, in The Foundry Shopping Center.
Come with your four-legged friend in a "tail-waggin" costume for a howling good time while you help raise funds for the Animal House Shelter. Registration, which requires a donation to the shelter, begins at noon; judging and refreshments are at 1 p.m. Prizes will include a pet portrait, gift cards and more.
Animal House Shelter, a premier nonprofit animal shelter, is in Huntley, where at least 200 dogs and 100 cats are seeking loving homes. Correctional clinics: The German Shepherd Dog Training Club of Chicago will hold the next correctional clinic on Friday, Oct. 24, in the clubhouse at 4925 County Farm Road in Hanover Park. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and judging begins at 7 p.m. Pre-entry fee is $5, plus $3 for a second entry of the same dog. • Rand Park Dog Training Club's next correction clinic will be Saturday, Oct. 25, at For Your Canine, 4233 United Parkway in Schiller Park. Judging begins at 11:30 a.m. No walk-ins after 1 p.m. Pre-entry fee is $7 plus $6 for a second entry of the same dog. Gate entry is $8 plus $7. • Lyons Township Dog Training Club's next Correction Clinic and Rally Fun Match will be Monday, Oct. 27, starting at 7 p.m. Entry fees are $7. New classes: Leash and Collar Dog Training will have new puppy classes starting at 6:30 p.m. and Basic Obedience at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, and Monday, Oct. 27. There will also be a Post-Basic Obedience class (Canine Good Citizen) at 8:45 p.m. on Oct. 27 and Post-Basic Obedience class (Intermediate Obedience) on Thursday, Oct. 30. Tracking deadline: Lincolnwood Training Club for German Shepherd Dogs has set Thursday, Nov. 13, as deadline to enter the club's Tracking and Tracking Dog Excellent Trials to be held Sunday, Nov. 23. They will be held at Burnidge/Paul Wolff Forest Preserve, Coombs and Big Timber roads in Elgin. Tracking fee is $50 and $90 for TDX. Rescue fundraiser: Chicagoland Dog Rescue will hold Pumpkin and Pooches fundraisers on Saturdays, Oct. 18 and 25. These will be held at Petco, 672-Barrington Road in Streamwood, and they will include games for kids and dogs, picture-taking with your costumed dogs and kids, raffle and more. Doberman fundraiser: Illinois Doberman Rescue based in Barrington will be cheering on the Bears while raising money for rescued Dobermans on Sunday, Nov. 2, at Crossroads Tavern and Eatery, 396 W.
