Three indicted in school bomb threat

Three people have been arrested and charged with making a bomb threat on Oct. 1 that caused the evacuation of Cary Grove High School.

No explosives were found and no one was injured.

Cary Police announced Thursday that a McHenry County grand jury had indicted two 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old from Crystal Lake.

Tyler J. Becker, 861 Blazing Star Trail, Cary, and Lucas F. Medansky, 503 Lincoln Ave., Fox River Grove, both have been charged with felony conspiracy and disorderly conduct.

If convicted, penalties range from 2 years probation to up to five years in prison.

In a prepared statement, police said the 16-year-old made the initial call and Becker and Medansky aided in the second call.

Cary Police Detective Jason Williamson said Becker and the juvenile were arrested Thursday without incident. Williamson said the arrests were not executed at the high school and declined to elaborate on a motive.

"The release will have to stand on its own," Williamson said.

Medansky was at the McHenry County jail for an attempted forgery charge and remained in custody on $10,000 bond.

Becker, a Cary Grove senior, posted $1,000 bond. His initial court date was not available.

Information about the juvenile was not available.

A phone message left at Becker's home was not returned.
