Briefs: Volunteers needed for test

Glenbard South High School needs volunteers to help with a class-wide heart screening Friday, Oct. 10. The Midwest Heart Community Foundation will test all freshmen for certain heart conditions and needs people who can help with the process. Voter registration extended

Glen Ellyn will have extended voter registration hours at the Civic Center, 535 Duane St., for the Nov. 4 general election. In addition to regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, voters can register from 8 a.m. to noon Oct. 4 and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 6 and 7. The last day to register is Oct. 7. To register, residents must bring two forms of identification with one showing the voter's current address.

District 4 makes plans

Parents and community members living in Addison School District 4 may attend a meeting to discuss the district's plans for providing special education services to students with disabilities who attend private or home schools within the district for the 2008-09 school year. The meeting will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, in the board of education meeting room at the district office at Indian Trail Junior High, 222 N. Kennedy Drive. District 4 to destroy records

Addison School District 4 will destroy special education records from the 2002-03 school year of students who graduated, transferred or were dismissed from special services. Special education records may include reports of psychological and social work evaluations, multidisciplinary planning conferences, annual review, copies of individualized education programs and other relevant information. If a parent or student wants such records, they should call the pupil personnel office before Friday, Oct. 10, at (630) 458-2462. Copies of the rules and regulations that govern student records are available for the inspection at each school site and at the district office.
