Hoffman Estates Hacker Scramble Golf Outing: noon Aug. 15, Poplar Creek Golf Course, 1400 Poplar Drive, Hoffman Estates. $125 per person includes 18 holes of golf, cart, lunch, and dinner. Four Paws Animal Foundation dog wash: 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. rain or shine, Aug. 16, Banbury Fair, 211 Railroad Ave., Bartlett. Pet owners can have their dogs washed and towel dried for a $10 donation. Families of Children in Therapy is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving children with special needs, their siblings, parents, and other family members. Free. Muscular Dystrophy "Fill the Boot": Members of the Schaumburg Fire Department will collect funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 15 at Algonquin and Meacham roads and Aug. 23 at Roselle and Schaumburg roads as part of MDA's Fill-the Boot campaign. Members of the Barrington Fire Department will collect from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Aug. 16 at Route 59 and Lake Cook Road and Main Street and Route 14 in Barrington. Dropping a donation into a firefighter's boot will help MDA provide wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices. Donations also help fund research, clinics, support groups and summer camp.
Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Tour: 8 a.m. Aug. 17; scenic 150 mile ride through the rural western suburbs of Illinois. Registration: 8-9 a.m. at Galway's, 12045 W. Roosevelt Road, Elmhurst. Group escorted ride leaves at 9:30 a.m. Non-riders are welcome to join in at the after party.
