Summer Fun and Games: 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 21; Rolling Meadows Senior Center, 3705 Pheasant Drive. Games are Bocce Ball, Bag-go, Mini Golf, WII Game, Badminton and Shuffleboard. Lunch is hot dog and a hamburger, chips, beverage and ice cream Dixie cup. Cost is $6 per member and $8 for nonmembers. Proceeds benefit the Senior Center. Call (847) 818-3205.
Back to School Party for Adults: 6-10:30 p.m. Aug. 22; Bogies's Ale House, 303 E. Kensington Road, Mount Prospect. Co-sponsored by the Mount Prospect Historical Society and Bogey's. Admission is $15 and it includes a pizza buffet which will be available, starting at 6 p.m. Raffle items include items purchased from around the world. Twenty percent of food and all drink purchases will be donated to the Mount Prospect Historical Society. At 9 p.m. a DJ will start spinning music. Highlight of the evening is the announcement of the winners of the "Seven Wonders of Mount Prospect" voting which has been going on around town all summer. Voting is still taking place. Operation Helping Hands program: Join Bill Kramer of St. Marcelline Parish in Schaumburg and other volunteers from the northwest suburbs as they travel to New Orleans Oct. 12 to aid Catholic Charities of New Orleans rebuild homes for elderly citizens. Adult volunteers, over 21 years of age, are being sought to participate. Volunteers with construction experience are especially needed to steer on-site efforts. Battle of the District 15 Bands: District 15 Educational Foundation is hosting a Battle of the District 15 bands event from 6-10 p.m. Nov. 8 at Durty Nellie's in Palatine. Bands are being sought to compete. Band members must be 21 or older, a parent of a District 15 student or alumni of a District 15 school. Prizes will be awarded to the top two bands.
