Schaumburg library rated in Top 10

The Schaumburg Township District Library is rated among the top 10 libraries in it's class nationwide, according to Hennen's American Public Library Ratings (HAPLR), published in the October issue of American Libraries Magazine.

"The library is happy to again be ranked among the top libraries in the nation," said Schaumburg Township District Library director Michael Madden. "We strive to provide services and resources for everyone in our community - all age groups and ethnic groups - as well as develop informative and interesting programs, classes and trips. Additionally, we continue to keep pace with the ever-changing technology. But at the end of the day, it's the human factor that makes a difference. The real key to earning this honor is our dedicated board and staff members who truly put patrons first."

Libraries are judged on several factors, including services, circulation, collection and allocation of funds. Scores for each category are assigned to libraries in nine population categories, with Schaumburg Township District Library ranking 8 out of 332 in the category of 100,000-250,000 residents. Communities served by the Schaumburg Township District Library are Schaumburg, Hanover Park, Hoffman Estates, Streamwood and parts of Roselle and Elk Grove Village, in addition to some unicorporated areas.
