Hampshire holds football/cheer registration
The Hampshire Youth Football & Cheerleading organization is holding its third and final registration for youth football and cheerleading on Saturday at the Hampshire Park District building from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Final registration for Hampshire 'Wildcats' Youth Football & Cheerleading will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Hampshire Park District building, 390 South Avenue in Hampshire. Jacobs basketball camp: Jacobs High School will be hosting a summer basketball camp for boys grades 6-12 on June 18-19, June 23-26, July 1-3 and July 8-10 at Jacobs High School.
Prospects must currently be enrolled in grades 6-11. For current 6-7 graders, camp will run from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. The freshman/ sophomore team camp will run from 1-2:30 p.m. There will be a position camp for all high school players from 2:30-3 p.m. and varsity team camp will run from 3-4:30 p.m.
All players from high school teams are to attend this 30 minute session each day. Varsity candidates will also have camp Tuesday and Thursday until the summer league (Harper), tournaments and more are completed. There will be work outs twice a week after regular camp is completed.

Streamwood boys basketball summer shootout: The Streamwood Sabre Summer Shootout is back at Streamwood High School on Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12. The tournament will consist of 24 teams, and each team will be guaranteed at least 5 games.
All games will be officiated by certified IHSA officials. Each team will play two games on July 11 at either 3-4, 5-6 or 7-8 p.m. On Saturday, each team will play at least three games in a double elimination tournament schedule beginning at 9 a.m.
Space may be limited. Please fill out and return registration form (with deposit or full amount) as soon as possible to guarantee your school a spot in the shootout. Upon receiving deposit, you will get a phone call to confirm your spot. The team entry fee is $250. Please make checks payablee to Streamwood High School. Admission for fans will be $3 for one day or $5 for a two-day pass. All teams are asked to have reversible jerseys for the shootout.

Jacobs girls basketball camps: Jacobs High School will be holding summer girls basketball camps for grades 6-8 June 23-26 and June 30 through July 3 from 7:30-9 a.m. at Jacobs High School. For grades 9-10, camp will run June 23-26, June 30 through July 3 and July 7-9 from 7:30-9:30 a.m.
Players will learn all aspects of the game of basketball, with a major emphasis being placed on shooting and ball handling. Most of the drills learned at camp are drills that players can take and do at home. All players will also receive a camp T-shirt for participating.

Streamwood summer camps: Streamwood High School will be holding summer camps for baseball, boys and girls basketball, cheerleading, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls soccer, strength and conditioning, boys swimming, boys and girls track and boys and girls volleyball.
Football camp for those entering grades 9-12 will be held Mondays and Wednesdays, June 9 through July 16 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and Monday through Thursday, July 21-31 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Streamwood High School.
The purpose of this camp is to expose players to the basic and advanced techniques and skills needed to play the game of football at the high school level. The first six weeks will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings
FVSA outdoor baseball/ softball camps: The Fox Valley Sports Academy is holding outdoor baseball and softball summer camps for boys and girls ages 8-12. Most summer camps run Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. and are located in different communities in and around the Fox Valley area including: Elgin, South Elgin, Bartlett, Dundee, Hoffman Estates, Algonquin, Barrington and Schaumburg.
Students will learn proper fundamentals in hitting, pitching and fielding through structured drills and station work. Players will then utilize their skills in afternoon game time situations, where they are encouraged to play multiple positions.
Cost is $150 (may vary by Park District) per player and includes camp T-shirt and lunch on final day of camp. Sign up before May 15 and receive at $25 discount for most locations.

FVSA adds pro pre-game junior baseball camps: The Fox Valley Sports Academy has added junior baseball summer camps for players 12-14 years old.
These new junior camps will be held exclusively at Trout Park, home of Elgin Babe Ruth, and concentrate on advanced skills designed to assist players with advanced game-play. Drill stations and game situations will be utilized to teach players: proper lead-offs, pick-offs, infield pivots, outfield relays, bunt plays and bunt coverage as well as position specific skill-sets.
Pro Pre-Game Junior Baseball Summer Camps run Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until noon and are located at Trout Park on Elgin's northeast sidel There are two weekly sessions scheduled June 16-20 and July 7-11.
Cost for junior camps is $150 per player, per session and includes a camp T-shirt and lunch of the final day of camp. Sign up before May 15 and receive a $25 discount.

Boys baseball camp at the Hitting Zone in Bartlett: The Hitting Zone in Bartlett will be holding a summer baseball camp June 9-12 for players ages 8-13 years old. With two sessions, Session I will run from 9 a.m. until noon followed by Session II from 1-4 p.m. The outdoor camp will be held at the Koehler Fields in Bartlett.
Participants will get instruction on hitting, fielding, pitching, base running and catching skills led by professional instructors.
The fee for each player is $125 and includes a camp T-shirt. Players will report daily to Koehler Fields regardless of weather conditions. In the event of rain, campers will be redirected indoors to The Hitting Zone.
Players will sharpen their skills while participating in a wide range of drills and simulated game activities in age and skill specific breakout groups. With an emphasis on fundamentals and sportsmanship, players will drill daily in the skills of hitting, pitching, fielding and base running. The 4-day comprehensive program will help teach players newer to the game while challenging those more skilled players to improve their level of play, learn new positions, and develop game experience as part of a camp team.
Pitching activities will be coordinated and led by Coach Mark Tortorice. In 1984 Coach Tortorice played in the Junior College World Series and as a top left-handed pitcher finished second in the nation in strikeouts. Mark pitched in the Northwest and California leagues with the Oakland A's organization from 1985 to 1987. During the 1988 season he pitched in the Midwest League for the Chicago White Sox organization.
Hitting activities will be coordinated and led by Coach Tom Siebert. Coach Siebert played his collegiate baseball at Mesa Community College and participated in several professional tryout camps. Following his playing days he has participated in various professional spring training workouts being used to assist as a bullpen catcher and batting practice pitcher.
The Hitting Zone Dodgeball League: The Hitting Zone is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Inaugural Season of the Hitting Zone Dodgeball League. Play will begin Sunday, June 8 for teams of 6-10 players in two divisions split as Minor League Division (players 8-10 years old) and Major League Division (players 11-14 years old).
Space is limited to the first six teams per division for this 5-week regular season followed by a single elimination tournament to crown a summer champion.
The registration fee is $40 per player or $350 for a full 10-person roster. For eligibility, all participants must be on a team's opening night roster. No players can be added once the season begins and pre-game check-in is mandatory.
Scheduling may include game times on Sunday evenings (no matches scheduled on Father's Day) beginning at 5:30, 6:15 and 7 p.m. It will be a best-of-five game format for each match with a 40 minute match limit.
Each team must have an adult 'manager' to participate in a one-time 30 minute meeting to review rules, document the team's official roster and receive game schedule prior to the start of the season.

Regional Sports Center in Crystal Lake speed camp: The Regional Sports Central in Crystal Lake is now offering a split second speed camp. Take your game to the next level by elevating your off-season training program at split second speed camp.
The camp will be held for six weeks with two-day weekly sessions. It will begin on June 9 and run through July 18.
For the Monday/Wednesday session, Group A (ages 9-14) will attend from 10-11:05 a.m. Group B (ages 14-17) will go from 11:15 a.m. until 12:20 p.m. and Group C (ages 9-11) from 6-7:05 p.m. Group D (ages 12-16/17) will follow from 7:15-8:20 p.m. and Group E (ages 17 and up) from 8:30-9:35 p.m.
For Tuesday/Thursday sessions, the times are as follows: Group A (ages 9-14) from 12:15-1:20 p.m. Group B (ages 14-17) from 1:30-2:35 p.m. Group C (ages 9-11) from 6-7:05 p.m. Group D (ages 12-16/17) from 7:15-8:20 p.m. and Group E (ages 17 and up) from 8:30-9:35 p.m.
Split second speed trains athletes and teams to achieve their full potential by providing a program that is customized for each member. Split second speed is a membership based performance program.
Athletes can expect to improve quick bursts of acceleration, improve maximum velocity top speed, improve explosive power-lateral, change of direction, vertical jump, greater strength and strength endurance and become a better athlete.
Cost for each individual attending camp will be $220 for a six week session. There will be succeeding six week sessions running continuously throughout the summer and fall.
