Four county residents honored for efforts in public health
McHenry County Department of Health honored four citizens at its annual breakfast on April 29 for their commitment to improving the community's health through youth leadership, volunteerism and dedication.
The Spirit of Public Health Award is an annual recognition by the Department of Health during its celebration of April's Public Health Month.
Award nominations were received from the community for student, volunteer and professional categories.
A plaque was presented to Jill Cole, a student at Cary-Grove High School, for her exemplary community service on behalf of needy children.
The Spirit of Public Health volunteer award recognized two individuals:
Becki Enck, mother of a Cerebral Palsy child who has advocated for compassionate Cerebral Palsy education and training for medical students.
Dr. Kathleen Schroeder for assisting the McHenry County Cooperative Dental Clinic to provide dental care for low income and uninsured families.
Sally Fyfe Stachniak, McHenry County Mental Health Board, received the Spirit award for her tireless dedication to children and families for mental health services.
