Pamper your pooch at rescue group's Doggy Wash

Chicagoland Dog Rescue and Wizard of Pawz will host their Doggy Wash from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 1 at Wizard of Pawz, 2306 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates. Proceeds will go toward boarding fees, veterinary care, feeding and other expenses involved in operating the shelter-less rescue.

Shih Tzu meeting: The next meeting of the Chicagoland Shih Tzu Club will begin at 8 p.m. June 3 in the Arlington Heights Public Library, 500 N. Dunton, at Euclid. For more information about the meeting or the club in general, call Diane at (847) 438-7077.

Shows and Trials: Fox River Valley Club's Conformation Shows and Obedience Trials will be held May 30 and 31 at McHenry County Fairgrounds, Route 47 between Route 120 and City Route 14 in Woodstock.

The Flat-Coated Retriever Club will hold Agility Trials May 30, 31 and June 1 at Rush 'N' Around Training Center, 27432 State Route 45 in Manhattan.

Stone City Kennel Club's Conformation Trial and Obedience and Rally Trials will be June 1 at Grundy County Fairgrounds on Route 47 in Morris.

Blessing of the Animals: Strays Halfway House is sponsoring a Blessing of the Animals at 10 a.m. June 7 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 405 S. Rush St. in Roselle. Correction Clinic: Rand Park Dog Training Club's next Correction Clinic will be June 7. Judging will start at 11:30 a.m. and no walk-ins after 1 p.m.. These are held at For Your Canine, 4233 United Pkwy. in Schiller Park. Pre-entry is $7, plus $6 for second entry of the same dog. Send entry and fee payable to the club to Jean Eremo, 2511 N. 79th Ave., Elmwood Park, IL 60707. Gate entry is $8, plus $7 for second entry of same dog. Rand Park's 60th: Rand Park Dog Training Club's 60th Anniversary Awards Gala was just as promised, with a festive setting at Fairway Banquets in Niles. Cocktails on the outdoor patio, reception for members and guests and luncheon were followed by the investiture of officers, new title and special awards. Entertainment included a humorous dog training-related skit by the "Rand Park Players," complete with song. The finale was the drawing of raffle prizes -- several filled baskets representing a variety of holidays, sports, etc..

The list of members receiving new titles and special awards was too long to print. However, Kathy Hansen of Elk Grove Village was named Member of the Year.
