Itasca troupe plans 'State Fair' tryouts

Overshadowed Theatrical Productions announces auditions for its summer musical, "State Fair."

Auditions will be from 10 a.m. to noon May 10 at the Itasca Public Library, 500 Irving Park Road. Auditions will be in the room immediately to the right when you walk in the door. Callbacks will be 6 to 9 p.m. May 19.

The production will be staged July 18-19, 22, 24-26, 29, 31, Aug. 1-2. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m., with a 2 p.m. show Aug. 2, at 210 S. Walnut Street in Itasca.

The cast includes 20 male roles, seven women and one 11-year-old girl. To audition, come prepared to sing a song. Women may choose between "It Might As Well Be Spring" and "Our State Fair." Men must sing either "That's For Me" or "Our State Fair."

Bloomingdale club plans its plant sale

The Bloomingdale Garden Club plans its flower and perennial plant sale May 16-18 at the Bloomingdale village hall/library complex, 201 S. Bloomingdale Road. The sale hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The sale will feature full flats, premium hanging baskets, geraniums in all hues, specialty and accent plants delivered from a Michigan grower.

Flats and premium baskets are $13. Perennial plants come from members' gardens and are priced according to size.

Naturalist to speak in Bloomingdale

Dennis Paige, environmental educator and interpretive naturalist at the Spring Valley Nature Center in Schaumburg, will present "Creating Eco-Gardens on Residential Landscapes" at 6:30 p.m. May 21 at the Bloomingdale Public Library, 101 Fairfield Way. Scrapbooking open to moms, daughters

Mothers and daughters in second through sixth grades are invited to create family-themed scrapbook pages from 7 to 8 p.m. May 5 at the Roselle Public Library, 40 S. Newsletter seeks kids' contributions

"What's Up With Kids!" a newsletter written by and for the children of Roselle, is sponsored by the Youth Services Department of Roselle Public Library.

Children in second through sixth grades can write articles, provide book reviews and create artwork.
