Briefs: Glenbard fills two jobs
Chris McClain, who previously worked with Motorola, was hired as assistant superintendent of business services in Glenbard High School District 87 starting July 1. McClain, who worked with Motorola from 1979 to 2007, also served with the school board in Grayslake High School District 127 from 1995 to 2007. The school board also approved hiring John Healy as assistant principal for instruction at Glenbard North High School in Carol Stream. Healy's been principal at Jay Stream Middle School since 2003 and before that was principal at Heritage Lakes Elementary School in Carol Stream.
School to hold clothes drive
Excess clothing, bedding, shoes and other soft goods left over from spring cleaning can find new life Saturday at DuJardin Elementary School in Bloomingdale. The school is working with a fundraising group, Fundraise & Recycle Clothes Now, that collects items by the pound and delivers them to a number of social service agencies or thrift stores. Items can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school's east parking lot, 166 S. Euclid Ave. A prize is being given for the heaviest contribution. Addison Indoor Garage Sale
Addison Park District's annual Indoor Garage Sale will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Centennial Recreation Center, 120 E. Oak St. Roughly 30 vendors from Addison and surrounding communities will sell items. Admission is free. For details, call (630) 833-0100.
New board for CASA
Court Appointed Special Advocates recently elected two new members to its board of directors. CASA is a not-for-profit that trains and supports volunteers who are appointed by the court to monitor the cases of abused, neglected and dependent children. Tim Daw, of Homewood, and Jeff Thompson, of Aurora, both were elected to three-year terms on the board of directors. Daw is a senior partner with the firm of Schiller, DuCanto and Fleck, Ltd, of Wheaton, practicing family law. Thompson is a senior executive and MBA with extensive information technology, management consulting and operations management experience leading strategic change and organizational improvement initiatives. Daw and Thompson join directors Neal Cerne and Curtis Reed of Naperville, Allison DeBoer and Connie Shipman of Aurora and Russ Graunke of Glen Ellyn.
Wrestling coach honored
Glenbard North High School teacher Mark Hahn was named 2007 Illinois State Wrestling Coach of the Year by the National Federation Coaches Association. Hahn is a member of the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Hall of Fame.
