Chicagoland Classic pairings set
The pairings have been set for the Daily Herald/Chicagoland Classic softball tournament, hosted by St. Edward High School and the City of Elgin.
The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 19 at the Elgin Sports Complex.
Each of the eight teams will play three games in the bracketed format, with play beginning at 9 a.m. on four fields.
The first-round pairings are, in bracket order:
Farmington vs. Aurora Central Catholic;
Genoa-Kingston vs. Lake Forest Academy;
St. Edward vs. Illinois Math & Sciences Academy;
Illiana Christian vs. Wheaton Academy.
Second round games will be played at 11 a.m. and the final round, including the championship game, at 1 p.m.
There will be no admission charge to this year's tournament and tournament T-shirts will be available for sale.

Girls soccer
Dundee-Crown 4, McHenry 1: Dundee-Crown (1-4-1, 1-0) earned its first win of the 2008 campaign at the right time, recording this Fox Valley Conference Valley Division triumph. Knotted at 0-0 before the break, Licia Keyes put the Chargers up 1-0 with an assist by Yasmine Hernandez and later Claire Mazuurkiewicz on a corner kick.
Karen DeLarosa tacked on an insurance goal via the penalty kick, and Beth Nowicke sealed the victory scoring the team's second corner of the night assisted by Katie Dunning. Deanna Libricz kept the McHenry offense at bay defending the Charger net.
Streamwood 3, South Elgin 1: South Elgin (0-5-1, 0-3-1) took an early 1-0 lead in this Upstate Eight Conference contest, but Streamwood (4-2-3, 1-1-1) scored three unanswered goals to walk away with the win.
Geena Boris and Amy Tyszkiewicz found the back of the net assisted by Alanah Thompson. Violet Sanchez added the insurance knock off a pass from Lonnie Prout. Pearl Patel (5 saves) defended the Sabre net.
Jessica Desimon scored the lone Storm goal of the game assisted by Monserath Bustamonte. Freshman Danielle Wagner returned to the net for South Elgin.
Burlington Central 5, Harvard 0: It was the Karly Kuranda-Bri Conran tandem which lifted Burlington Central (2-6, 1-0) to this Big Northern East victory. Kuranda racked up a hat trick, assisted twice by Conran and once by Kelly Engelking. Conran recorded her third assist of the game helping Erica Heissler to a goal.
Heather Ferstl opened up the 5-goal barrage unassisted, while Kim DeRaedt earned the shutout in goal for the Rockets.
Latin School 4, Elgin Academy 2: Trailing 2-0 at the half, Elgin Academy (2-2, 1-2) battled back with two second half goals but gave up two for this Independent School League loss. Lauren Steimle got the Hilltoppers on the board off a dish by Allison Clark, and Clark scored the second goal of the game on a penalty kick.
Defending the net for Elgin Academy, Bianca Swegler tallied 19 saves.
Bartlett 0, Lake Park 0: With 25 minutes left to play, weather concluded this Upstate Eight Conference contest in a 0-0 tie. Erin Zaidman was in goal for Bartlett (2-1-2, 1-1-1) and collected 1 save.
Boys volleyball
Waubonsie Valley d. Larkin: Despite solid court efforts from Brad Potts (4 kills, 2 aces), Mike Jetel (3 blocks), Brendyn Dobbeck (9 assists) and Daniel Dominguez (3 digs), Larkin dropped this Upstate Eight Conference meeting with Waubonsie Valley.
The Royals fell in two games by scores of 25-9 and 25-19.
Lake Park d. South Elgin: South Elgin (4-8, 1-2) kept things close, but dropped this Upstate Eight Conference meeting 25-19, 25-11. Doug Sawyer (5 kills) and Andrew Gleason (3 digs) led the Storm attack.
Streamwood d. Elgin: Streamwood took this Upstate Eight Conference match by scores of 25-18 and 25-12 behind Kevin Wolhart (10 kills) and Marcus Greene (4 blocks, 5 kills).
Wheaton Academy d. St. Edward: Dropping this nonconference contest in two games (25-17, 25-22), St. Edward (2-3) had key contributions from Lucas Belcher (6 kills, 7 digs), Will Lytle (4 kills, 4 blocks), Carlo Lacap (4 kills, 4 blocks) and Miguel Martinez (5 blocks, 25 assists).
College softball
Judson 4, Trinity 0: Getting in one of the two CCAC games, Judson University's softball team (16-13, 7-3) shutout Trinity International before Game 2 was called due to the weather.
In her best 7-inning outing, Lizzy Jacobson recorded her first shutout of the season as she only allowed 3 hits with 7 strikeouts.
In the second inning, Judson took a 1-0 lead when Debra Leganski hit her CCAC-leading ninth home run of the season. Judson then added another run in the third inning to make it 2-0 when Nicole Dimiceli singled in Brittany Nicley.
Rachel Pope's second triple of the season brought home Leganski in the fourth inning for a 3-0 advantage. Two batters later, Nicley picked up her second hit of the day and singled home Pope for the fourth run.
Five Judson batters had 2 hits. Nicley, Pope, and Leganski went 2 for 3 and Carrie Sensor and Dimiceli were 2 for 4.
