Get environmental tips at MCC's ABC Breakfast

It's hip to go green, and now you can learn how to start in your own backyard at McHenry County College's next ABC Breakfast, which will be at 7:30 a.m. April 23.

John Cronin, environmentalist, author, fisherman, teacher, documentary filmmaker and Time magazine's Hero for the Planet, will conduct an interactive discussion on the environment and how each of us can make a personal difference.

Cronin will present "Change the World -- Start in Your Own Backyard," which explores the human, moral and political dimensions of today's environmental headlines.

Cronin co-authored "The Riverkeepers" with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He has been a frequent contributor on environmental policy to the Op Ed page of The New York Times, and wrote and co-produced "The Last Rivermen," which was named an outstanding documentary film of 1991 by the Motion Picture Academy Foundation.

His regional and national environmental work has brought him numerous awards.

The ABC Breakfast series is hosted by the MCC Corporate and Continuing Education Division and the Friends of McHenry County College Foundation.

Doors open at 7 a.m. and breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m. The half-hour address begins at 8 a.m., followed by a 15-minute question-and-answer period.

Admission is $25 per person. Register online at www.mchenry.edu/abc or call Linda Buerger at (815) 455-8556 for more information.
