Bartlett High
On Thursday, a Band Concert will be presented at 7 p.m. in the Bartlett High School auditorium, 701 Schick Road. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult, and $6 per family.
Elgin High School
Today at 7:30 p.m., Elgin High School, 1200 Maroon Drive, will host the Fox Valley Music Festival -- the longest running festival of its kind.
The festival includes U-46 high school students, along with students from Dundee to Aurora. Participating high school students are nominated by their school Choral, Orchestra and Band directors and a committee selects the students for ensembles. The public may attend for a nominal fee.
On Friday, the Prom will be held at the Seville on Barrington Road at 6:30 p.m.
Larkin High School
On Thursday, a Spring Orchestra Concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Larkin High School, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin.
At 6:30 p.m. Friday, the Prom will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Westin Hotel in Itasca.
South Elgin High
At 6:30 p.m. Friday, the South Elgin High School Prom will be held at Venuti's in Addison.
Streamwood High
At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Honors Night will be held in the Streamwood High School auditorium, 701 W. Schaumburg Road.
A blood drive will be held from 7:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the west gym. The public is encouraged to donate.
On Thursday, a Choral Concert will be held at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult, and $6 per family.
At 6:30 p.m. Friday, the Prom will be held at the Avalon in Elk Grove Village.
Eastview
At 7 p.m. Thursday, the annual Talent Show will be presented in the Eastview Middle School cafeteria, 321 N. Oak. St., Bartlett.
Featured will be singers, dancers, magicians, rock bands, yo-yo tricks and baton twirling.
Tefft
At 7 p.m. Tuesday, the band will present a concert at in the Tefft Middle School auditorium, 1100 Shirley Ave. Streamwood.
Bartlett Elementary
On Wednesday evening, a Kindergarten Sing will be held in the Bartlett Elementary School multi-purpose room, 111 E. North Ave., for families. Admission is free.
Highland
On Tuesday, Highland Elementary School students in second- through sixth-grades who completed the Ozzie Reading Club will attend a Kane County Cougars game from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
On Thursday, students in fourth- and fifth-grades will travel to Springfield for the day, visiting Lincoln's home, the Lincoln Museum, Lincoln's tomb and the Illinois Capitol.
Lowrie Elementary
Today, all Lowrie Elementary School fifth-graders will be attending the Wheel of Wisdom at the Hemmens Auditorium in Elgin. This field trip is the culminating activity of the DARE program.
From 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, a Spring Sing will be presented by fourth- through sixth-grade students in the gym. Admission is free.
Nature Ridge
From 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Young Authors Night will take place in the Nature Ridge Elementary School gym, 1899 Westridge Blvd., Bartlett. Students' books will be on display for parents to view.
Ridge Circle
At 7 p.m. Wednesday, the Ridge Circle Elementary School Chorus and students in third- through sixth-grades will present a Spring Sing at Streamwood High School.
Spring Trail
On Thursday, Spring Trail Elementary School sixth-graders will display the castles they have built in the commons area.
Timber Trails
A book fair will be held during school hours Monday-Thursday at Timber Trails Elementary School, 1675 McDonough Road, Hoffman Estates, and again from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday for Family Literacy Night.
The book drive will also end on that night. Parents will also read to the students.
In other news
Larsen Middle School's eighth-hour class, taught by Trish Arntsen, has chosen the winning names of the City of Elgin's mascots for recycling and trash.
They are Leftover Larry for the Trash Mascot, and Reusable Rick for the Recycling Mascot. Together they will be known as the Dynamic Duo. Congratulations!
