Volunteers go bald to support research
More than 90 men, women and children are expected to shave their heads bald to show solidarity to children with cancer and raise money for childhood cancer research at 3 p.m. Friday at John Barleycorn, 1020 National Parkway, Schaumburg.
Those being shaved will be cheered on by a crowd of friends, doctors, family, nurses, children and others -- including Schaumburg Mayor Al Larson -- who have been touched by cancer.
The St. Baldrick's Foundation raises money and awareness globally for childhood cancer research through volunteer-driven events that pair great fun with a worthy cause.
