Man airlifted from crash

A Crystal Lake man was flown by helicopter to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge to be treated for injuries he suffered in a Barrington Hills car crash Thursday. The 52-year-old man, who was driving a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix, was heading east on Route 62, just west of Bateman Road, when police said he crossed the center line and struck the rear axle of a 2000 International semitrailer truck heading west. Police said the driver of the truck, a 34-year-old from Chicago, was treated for his injuries at the scene. Officials at Lutheran General Hospital would not release a condition update on the airlifted driver. Route 62 was closed for a portion of the day Thursday while the damage was removed. No citations had been issued, but police said the crash remains under investigation.
