Crystal Lake South poms take two firsts
The Crystal Lake South High School Varsity Pom Gatorettes won first place in both the Triple AAA pom and kick categories, as well as the artistic excellence award for their kick routine Feb. 2 at the Jacobs High School Team Dance Illinois competition.
The Gatorettes competed against five other high schools in the pom category, with Cary-Grove receiving second place. In the triple AAA kick division, the Gatorettes placed first with York High School coming in second and Streamwood High coming in third.
Crystal Lake South has won the artistic excellence award in two of their three competitions this year for their "Burning Love" kick routine.
The JV pom team achieved two first places at the Jacobs competition.
Both teams will be competing at the Prairie Ridge Dance competition on Saturday, before heading to the state competition on March 2 in Peoria.
Dawn Cosman, Michelle Dobler, and Allison Preston coach the two teams. Captains and co-captains are Lauren Stroman, Kristen Dzialo, Abby Ellison and Holly Young.
