• Cairy Brown of Glen Ellyn received the 2008 Easter Seals Crystal Heart Award from Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region in Villa Park. The annual award is given to those who have a unique and longstanding legacy of commitment to the local chapter of the charity. Brown is co-chair of the group's Annual Easter Seals Gala Benefit this year. She shared the award with her husband, Tom.

• Amanda Manley of Wheaton and Lilia Santos of Lombard presented academic papers at the 18th annual Argonne Undergraduate Research Symposium at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont. The students were representing College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, one of only three community colleges invited to attend the symposium. Their respective papers were among 170 undergraduate-authored papers submitted at the event.

• Jeff Warren of Glendale Heights, Carl Vachlin of Roselle and Jeff Fowler of Benseville all have acting roles in the production of "Arsenic and Old Lace" staged by Overshadowed Theatrical Productions in Itasca. The comedy is being performed in downtown Itasca Feb. 22, 23, 28, 29, March 1, and March 6-8.

• Dr. Peter Liber of Wheaton, founder of Wheaton Pediatrics, was one of only two pediatricians representing DuPage County in Chicago Magazine's list of top doctors for 2008. Physicians are selected by their peers for the annual recognition. Liber, on the medical staff at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, also serves as an instructor in pediatrics at the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University in Chicago.
