AIMS to sponsor lunch for mentors

Adults Involved in Mentoring Students, a community-based outreach, will have a celebration luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Lake Park High School East Campus, 600 S. Medinah Road, Roselle.

Mentors, mentored students and parents will gather for a craft, entertainment by a magician and lunch by Two Chefs of Itasca.

Library to stage a marionette show

Roberts Marionettes will give free a marionette performance at 11 a.m. Saturday at Roselle Public Library, 40 S. Park St., Roselle.

The Scottish folk tale "The Lass that Couldna Be Frightened" will be presented. The performance is suggested for children in kindergarten and older, but is open to all ages. Adults must accompany and supervise children younger than 8.

See rescued dogs at Petco Saturday

As Good as Gold Golden Retriever Rescue will have a Meet and Greet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Petco, 412 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale. Meet volunteers and their golden retrievers and learn about rescued dogs, volunteer opportunities and adoption procedures. For details, call (630) 588-0115.

St. Peter School to host open house

St. Peter the Apostle School will have an open house from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at the School, 500 N. Cherry St., Itasca. Keep on reading for winter program

A winter reading program for children in sixth grade and younger, "Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds!" continues through March 3 at Roselle Public Library, 40 S. Park St., Roselle.

Kids receive program bookmarks and a sheet to mark off the minutes they spend reading. When participants log in their minutes at the library, they'll receive a ticket for a grand prize drawing.

Moms, kids can work out together

On-A-Roll Stroller Fitness, a new fitness program for moms and their kids, meets from 9 to 10 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at Stratford Square Mall, 152 Stratford Square, Bloomingdale. Meet just inside the mall entrance between J.C. Penney and Burlington Coat Factory.

The class uses strollers and resistance tubing to get a full cardiovascular workout and create muscle tone and flexibility. The first class is free.
