Outlook The Hilltoppers took a hit when returning leading scorer Javon MacDonald transferred to Schaumburg, leaving new coach David Vogt with seven full-time varsity players. However, Vogt - who was a head coach for three seasons in Florida, assisted two years ago at Elgin Academy and assisted last season at Elgin Community College - said he has players who can step up and fill the basket. "I think Paul Leonardis and Aaron Thomas will fill that scoring void," Vogt said. "I think we should be able to compete on any given night. We don't have a lot of height, but we have good all around players. We're going to try to play to our strengths and force teams to play out of their comfort zone." The Hilltoppers will open the season at the Westminster Christian Thanksgiving Tournament and compete in another tournament at Christian Liberty in Schaumburg in January.
