Church stages play
The First Congregational Church of Huntley and the Crystal Lake Park District Stagecrafters have teamed up to present "The Boys Next Door," a play about four disabled men who live together and the social worker who cares for them. The play was written by Tom Griffin and directed by Judy Sijerson. Show times are at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, and noon on Sunday, Dec. 8. Tickets for Friday and Sunday's performances cost $12 and include a spaghetti meal. Tickets for Saturday's show cost $8 and do not include a meal. Christmas trees for charity
Starting Friday, Nov. 27, the Algonquin Lions Club will be selling Christmas trees and wreaths from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Algonquin State Bank at Randall Road and Huntington Drive, Thereafter, weekday hours extend from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Weekend hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is the lions club's 42nd annual event and the proceeds go to the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Food Pantry and the FISH Food Pantry in Carpentersville.
U-46 AP scholars lauded
Nearly 160 U-46 high school students have been named AP Scholars by the College Board. Students are eligible to take the exams after completing college-level courses at their high schools. Seven U-46 students qualified for the highest distinction, the AP National Scholar Award, by earning an average grade of 4 or higher on a 5-point scale on all AP exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. They include Kelly Jaynes from Bartlett High School; and Dylan Bloomquist, Jacob Morris, Dylan Piatt, Shoaib Rashid, Claire St. George, and Thomas Stopka from Elgin High School.
