Police say Lake in the Hills man led them on chase

A 48-year-old Lake in the Hills man faces a slew of felony charges after authorities say he led police on a chase Friday night that started in Crystal Lake and ended near the man's home.

Just before midnight, a Crystal Lake officer attempted to stop Michael Lundy, 48, of the 100 block of Harvest Gate, for a speeding violation on southbound Route 31 near Rakow Road. When Lundy failed to stop, the officer pursued Lundy westbound on Rakow Road where the squad car and Lundy's red 2008 Chevrolet HHR collided. The squad car was unable to continue after the crash.

A second Crystal Lake police officer and a Lake in the Hills squad car continued the pursuit into Lake in the Hills where Lundy stopped at Polaris Road and Harvest Gate.

The Crystal Lake squad car moved in front of Lundy to prevent him from fleeing again. However, police said Lundy attempted to ram the vehicle with officers still inside.

Other officers on the scene were able to apprehend Lundy, who was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of the accident and speeding. The felony charges are two counts of aggravated battery, one count of aggravated fleeing and eluding and one count criminal damage to state property.

Police said no officers were injured in the accident. Lundy was treated for minor injuries before being taken to McHenry County Jail. Lundy's bond hearing is set for Monday.
