Learn about opera

The opera lecture series at Dundee Township Public Library continues at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, with "The Merry Widow," presented by Chicago Lyric Opera lecturer Marian Goldberg. The lecture will focus on the stories, performers, history and musical selections of Franz Lehar's operetta about the beautiful and very rich widow, Hanna Glawari. The new Web site includes an improved search engine, flash technologies and more content on each Web page. Violence counseling offered

The Community Crisis Center in Elgin provides domestic violence counseling services for northwestern Kane County. A licensed counselor and is available to adult and adolescent females, and services are free. For information or an appointment, call (847) 697-2380.
