Two arrested in weekend robbery

Fox River Grove police made a pair of arrests this week they believe solves a strong-arm robbery over the weekend outside a grocery store.

Emily L. Devers, 19, of Crystal Lake, and Jeffrey J. Hauck, 21, of Chicago, each face one count of robbery stemming from the Saturday night incident in which, police say, they stole $140 from a woman.

The robbery occurred about 9:39 p.m. behind the Dominick's store on Northwest Highway when, according to the victim, the two suspects approached her near her vehicle, shoved her and stole her cash, police said.

The victim, a Crystal Lake resident, later identified Devers and Hauck as her robbers through a photo lineup, police said.

Both suspects remained in custody Wednesday at the McHenry County jail unable to post $5,000 to win their release. They are scheduled to appear in court Oct. 2.

The robbery charge against them is a Class 2 felony punishable by three to seven years in prison if they are found guilty.
