Outlook A week after a thorough defeat at Cary-Grove, Jacobs plays its third straight road game at Crystal Lake South, the No. 7 team in Class 7A. Turnovers plagued the Golden Eagles throughout the Cary-Grove game, a problem that must be eliminated if they are to compete this week against one of the best teams in the Chicagoland area. "There's no magic formula," Jacobs coach Dean Schlueter said after last week's loss. "We have to do the fundamental things well. We have to come out and work hard and get better at what we do. It's part of the challenge of getting better week to week in our conference." The Gators are humming on both sides of the ball, having outscored their opponents 192-21. But they take no team lightly, particularly in their homecoming game. "Jacobs is a struggling team right now, but sometimes teams can pull it together one time and give it a whirl," CL South coach Jim Stuglis said. "We just have to prepare for them showing up with their A game. We have to play our game and not get caught up in who we're playing but rather what we're able to do and what we're not." Stuglis said this week's objective for his run-oriented offense is to improve on pass protection and completion percentage. CL South junior quarterback Drew Ormseth has completed 23-of-53 attempts (43.4 percent) for 367 yards and 6 touchdowns against just 1 interception.
