Glenbard South grad killed in bike accident

A 19-year-old Glenbard South High School graduate died Saturday afternoon when his bicycle was struck by a minivan in an unincorporated neighborhood near Glen Ellyn, police said Monday.

David Ringenberg was riding his bike about 5 p.m. on the 2S500 block of Ashley Drive in the Foxcroft subdivision at the time of the accident, according to the DuPage County sheriff's office. The minivan was traveling south.

Ringenberg was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he was pronounced dead at 5:16 p.m., authorities said.

No further details about the accident have been released pending further investigation. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time, sheriff's police said.
