Free resume help offered:

The Hoffman Estates-based St. Hubert Job and Networking Ministry will offer two free events Saturday, Aug. 22, to provide area job seeker with resume assistance. At each of the two locations, human resource, executive search and outplacement professionals will be on hand to answer resume-related questions and offer tips for improving resume presentation, and each job seeker will receive a 20-minute one-on-one session. The sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the two following locations: Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 W. Higgins Road, Schaumburg, and St. Thomas Villanova Church, 1201 E. Anderson Drive, Palatine. The nondenominational event is open to all occupations. Bring a copy of your resume. No reservation required.

Event benefits food pantry:

A fundraiser benefiting the Hanover Township Food Pantry and chamber of commerce takes place 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at Sam's Club in Streamwood. The Hanover Park Fire Department and Fire Corps will assist, giving tours of fire apparatus and providing fire safety information. Hanover Park's own rock and blues band Certain Daze will also perform. Sam's Club is located 900 S. Barrington Road, Streamwood.

Cheaper eye exams offered:

The Palatine Lions Club Al Hoover Memorial PTA Health Fund is helping students in Palatine Township Elementary District 15 receive eye exams at a reduced fee. The Illinois State Board of Education requires eye exams by Oct. 15 for all kindergartners and students new to Illinois schools.
