MCC picks new trustee
McHenry County College's board of trustees on Tuesday night picked Bob DeWitt to join their ranks. DeWitt, selected out of 23 contenders, works for SunGard Higher Education, where his emphasis is on research and technology. He has 20 years of experience in higher education, holding interim chief information officer positions at various community colleges and universities, including National Louis University for three years. He fills the spot left open by Scott Summers, who resigned from the board in June. His term expires in April 2011.
Program canceled
The Dundee Township Historical Society has canceled an Aug. 9 program. Bert Zoub, who was a student at Tower Hill School for Boys in the 1930s, was to speak of his days at the school. You drink and drive, you lose
While announcing plans to be out in full force Labor Day weekend to crack down on drunk drivers. Lake in the Hills also released results of its last sting, which ran from June 19 through July 6. During that time, police arrested five people for driving while intoxicated, issued 24 citations for speeding, handed out four more for driving uninsured vehicles and arrested someone else for driving on a suspended license. Police also arrested someone for possession of marijuana and took someone else in on three warrants.
Registration at Immanuel Lutheran
Immanuel Lutheran School in East Dundee is accepting applications for the 2009-2010 school year for grades PK3-8. Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon and 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, in the gym. For details or a tour, call the school office at (847) 428-1010.
