Concert, raffle to benefit homeless shelter
A live music event has been organized to benefit Home of the Sparrow, a transitional shelter for homeless mothers and their children.
The event will be from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Clearwater Theater, 96 W. Main St., Route 72, West Dundee.
Old Ironsides, Barefoot Fred and other bands will perform.
A raffle at the show boasts prizes such as gift certificates and an electric guitar. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated.
The musical evening is an all-ages event. Visit the Web site www.clearwatertheater.com for directions and updated event information.
Tickets are $10 at the door, with 50 percent of tickets sales to be donated.
This event is in coordination with Algonquin martial arts school Action Kung Fu. Rick Gamboa, the school's owner, started raising funds for Home of the Sparrow in June and will be doing so until Oct. 31. The goal is to reach $20,000. All money made from this event will go toward that goal.
