Grafton Township is accepting applications for citizen committees that will advise the township board on planning, residents with disabilities and transportation. The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. today. Applications are available at graftontownship.us or the township offices, 10109 Vine St., Huntley. Pingree Grove celebrates Fourth of July

Pingree Grove will incorporate food and music as a prelude to its fireworks show, which begins at dusk on July 5 in the baseball fields off Wester Boulevard, near the Cambridge Lakes subdivision. The concert starts a 6 p.m. and food includes hot dogs, roast pork, barbecued ribs and Italian ice. Parking is plentiful. Huntley hosts fun day:

Huntley is hosting an All American Family Fun Day on Saturday, July 4, at its Farmers Market on Coral Street. From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can buy fresh produce and crafts, visit the used book sale in Old Village Hall and decorate your kid's bike or stroller. A parade for kids and dogs will be held at 12:15 p.m. There will also be kids' games, face painting and live music. The Prime Outlets at Route 47 and I-90 will host fireworks at dusk. Steak fry planned:

The Elgin American Legion Post 57 will host its annual July 4 steak fry from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the post, 820 N. Liberty St. The event is open to the public and dinners cost $13 with all the trimmings. For details, call Don Sleeman at at (847) 741-2358.
