Apply for park committee

Carpentersville is seeking residents who would like to serve on the village's park committee. The committee advises the village board on the use of village-owned parks, special events and park improvements. Members serve for two years and must be appointed by the village president. Turning Point fundraiser

Turning Point, a McHenry County-based advocate for victims of domestic abuse, is holding its annual "Gallery in the Garden" art show July 25 and 26 at a private garden in Woodstock. District 158 hosts forums

Huntley Unit District 158 is hosting two forums on how to spend federal stimulus money district officials expect to receive for special education. The district expects to get about $1.6 million for special education next year. Officials have said they would like to spend half that sum on existing programs, but some special education parents say the district should spend the full amount on special-needs children.
